Fleur + Forage Free Clinic Training

The Fleur + Forage Free Clinic was created when Herbalista passed on her Herb Cart and Herbal Apothecary to Fleur + Forage in 2022. Over the last three years, our set-ups have moved away from using the Herbalista Herb Cart to using the Fleur + Forage Apothebox (created from a Ryobi Toolbox). Our model of care is inspired by the work that Herbalista does.

We currently set-up in Atlanta, Ga where folks come for food, community, and foot care. In March 2025 (on our third year anniversary), we will open a new chapter in Athens, Ga.

To learn more about volunteering with us: here is an article that was published on October 5th, 2024 by Grace Donnelly for the Saportareport about the Fleur + Forage Free Clinic, Inc.

The next Free Clinic training will take place on February 1st and 2nd, 2025 from 10am-5pm. It is open to herbalists interested in volunteering at the Atlanta or Athens locations.

How to join the Fleur + Forage Free Clinic Crew

  • Fill out the application for the next Free Clinic Training (coming soon)
  • Complete a Fleur + Forage Free Clinic Training.
  • Fulfill all requirements as described below.

Over the weekend, we will go through the Fleur + Forage Free Clinic manual, covering the different protocols and types of set-ups we may encounter and how they support an integrative approach on both the emotional and physical well being of the clients we see.  Sunday afternoon will be dedicated to running practice scenarios and familiarizing yourself with the herbal remedies we carry on the Fleur + Forage Apothebox.

You must meet the following requirements to volunteer with the Fleur + Forage Free Clinic:

  • Applicants must have a solid foundation in herbal medicine, either self-taught or from an herbal program. We carry a wide variety of herbs on the Fleur + Forage Apothebox and a solid materia medica will allow you to use them easily.
  • Applicants need to have their CPR/First Aid training up to date before the training . Lisa Mestas, one of our crew members, can certified people so we will schedule a day that works for everyone to complete it.
  • Required (for Atlanta volunteers): volunteer at the Harriet Tubman Foot Care Clinic at least twice in 2025. They set-up several times a month at different locations and with the Fleur + Forage Free Clinic. This is a great place to put your first aid skills into practice. They use a mix of herbal and allopathic remedies.
  • To stay on the crew as a volunteer you must show a continued commitment to your herbal studies and community healthcare. As well as being open to reading several books by yourself or with the F+F crew about social work, people who experience homelessness, and herbal medicine.
