First Aid Workshop

Portable First Aid Kit at Shackleford Island

Join us for a two weekend long (4 days) workshop this Fall. Marie-Lies and Lisa Mestas are partnering to teach a “make your own herbal first aid kit” + CPR/First Aid certification workshop. Students will create their own Herbal First Aid Kit with Marie-Lies and learn how to do First Aid and CPR with Lisa Mestas (and getting certified).

Marie-Lies is a community herbalist who has been working on and running first aid stations since 2022. Her first aid training has come from various teachers and experiences, such as her kids, Lorna Mauney-Brodek, Annie, Kat Shaw, and the various volunteers who she has worked with along the years. She has created several first aid kits for small and large/long trips/events.

Lisa Mestas is a Registered Nurse and Community Herbalist that was trained as an EMT in the Army. She has been teaching CPR and First Aid intermittently for almost 10 years. The beginning of last year she realized her dream of going to school for herbalism and completed the Foundations of Herbalism Course with Patricia Kiritsi-Howell and has just started her herbalism business, Be in Balance Herbal Company. She has also been interning with Marie-Lies (Fleur + Forage) since last September.

We will meet on September 28th, September 29th, October 26th and October 27th at the Fleur + Forage Herbal Studio[address given upon signing up; located right outside of Avondale Estates]. Each class will run from 10AM-3PM with a 1/2 hour lunch.
